The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP) is a non-profit (501(c)(3)) that centers localized perspectives in the policy discourse to foster transparent, accountable, and just societies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). TIMEP is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and has a network of partners and fellows based both in the MENA region and across the world.

TIMEP believes that local experts and advocates are the most well-positioned to understand developments, challenges, and opportunities on the ground. Their voices and experiences are instrumental in crafting solutions-oriented policy that responds to root causes–whether at the U.S., EU, or UN level. Despite this, we find that local experts and advocates are often sidelined; they suffer from resource challenges; they lack access to training and convening opportunities; and they are often cut-off from each other and the international community.

By guaranteeing that these localized perspectives are heard, strengthened, and protected in the global policy making community, TIMEP ensures that policy is ethical, responsive, and effective, and that this policy fosters the accountable, just, and transparent societies that those on the ground are working to shape and that address popular demands, while guaranteeing economic development, long-term stability, and security.
